James Dean Height

Dream as if you'll live forever. Live as if you'll die today.

~ James Dean

Famous actor, James Dean is remembered as a cultural icon of teenage disillusionment and social estrangement, as expressed in the title of his most celebrated film Rebel Without a Cause (1955), in which he starred as a troubled teenager Jim Stark. The other roles that defined his stardom were loner Cal Trask in East of Eden (1955) and surly ranch hand Jett Rink in Giant (1956). His career only lasted five years and left a big impact on the world. He was the definition of a star burning out brightly and going out too soon.

About James Dean's Real Height

Handsome with chiseled facial features, James Dean didn't look like a short guy but he wasn't a tall guy.

His height was listed as 5 feet 8 inches on his driving license and his draft registration card. But on IMDb, it is 5′7½″ (171 cm) instead -- which probably came from a supposed high school basketball listing.

We also took a careful look at James Dean and observed that he was the shortest male actor in East of Eden and looked barely any taller than Julie Harris who was 5 feet 3 inches (160 cm) tall. James also looked significantly shorter than a 5'9" Marlon Brando.

A few more such height comparisons have convinced us that James Dean's real height was actually closer to 5'7" than any other number.

The real height of James Dean was

5 ft 7 in (170 cm)
