When Amanda Hammond (his wife) was on Loose Women (a British talk show) about Richard's crash, she mentioned that he is just 5 feet 3 inches tall. Do all wives think so “little” of their husbands? We are sure Richard wouldn’t have liked this unwelcome remark.
Richard Hammond is the definition of a small affable guy. But there is only one way to say this – Richard Hammond is short. He claims to be not that short though. Here is an excerpt from an old article in The Times where Richard vigorously defends his physical stature.
Q. Hung up about your height?
The thing is, I’m not actually that little. I’m 5 feet 7 inches (170 cm), which is about average. I just seem short because I’m co-presenting with Jeremy Clarkson, who is 6 feet 6 inches.
Q. So you don’t mind being the diminutive half of motoring’s Little and Large?
No, because as a pecking order, it works quite well. If I wasn’t shorter than him, it would just look like two blokes having an argument.
But the million dollar question: is Richard really 5’7”? After looking at him with a 5’7¾” Tom Cruise, we doubt that. 5’7” is not that short but we doubt that Richard is really 5’7”. Though nor do we think Richard is as short as his wife claims.
For the record, Jeremy Clarkson was 6’5” in his prime, and looks a bit shorter now.
