Elvis Presley Height

You've got to follow that dream, wherever that dream may lead.

The undisputed "King of Rock and Roll", Elvis Presley is remembered as one of the most iconic and electrifying figures in the history of 'rock 'n' roll' and the music world in general and he still remains the best-selling solo music artist of all time.

Elvis was one of the first rockstars the world has ever seen -- he was very big in the world of music. But how big was he in real life?

There is actually enough evidence about Elvis Presley's height --  bits and pieces of information -- from which we can form a true picture of how tall he really was.

In media, especially in the newspapers, Elvis Presley has been described anywhere from 5'11" to 6'1"  tall throughout his life and beyond.

In this video though, it seems Elvis mentions his height as a bit more.

Now, look. I'm six one and a half.

Elvis might measure up to six one and a half inches but only with some really big boots on.

Another time when asked about his height, Elvis mentioned his height as 6 feet even. He said so in a letter to a fan club:

I'm six feet tall and I weigh 195 pounds and I've gained about 20 pounds in the last year.

Elvis is also on record saying that he was 5 feet 11.75 inches tall.

It seems the most concrete evidence about Elvis' height comes from his driving licenses and military records.

Elvis' draft card from 1953 lists his height at 5 feet 11 and a half inches.

On Elvis Presley's first driver's license at the ripe age of 17, his height was listed at 5 feet and 11 inches and his weight was 153 pounds, then subsequently in his 20s 6ft and 170 lbs.

Our own opinion is that Elvis was 6 feet tall just a bit below it as to make no matter. He looked disturbingly close in height to Frank Sinatra (hardly 5'8") to be otherwise.

Was Elvis insecure about his height? Perhaps, Many people think so anyway. There are a number of people and media reports which has suggested that Elvis used to wear lifts in his shoes to make him seem even taller.

It might even be true, though we doubt that Elvis wore lifts to his military measurement.

Journalist and historian David Halberstam, who was very careful to check his facts, claimed in his book The Fifties that Elvis was sensitive about his height as a teenager, and as an adult, he habitually wore lifts. (Page 463)

In any case, Elvis could be considered a tall person for his time -- he was taller than the average height of men in the United States at his time, which was no more than 5 feet 8.5 inches at most.

After carefully analyzing his height we think that Mr. Presley gives the impression of a six feet tall man or just a bit below it.

The height of Elvis Presley in his prime was

Elvis Presley had as good a heart as he was good-looking. Here are a few more quotes that prove this:
