Rey Mysterio's Real Height

"I wanna be remembered for my hard work that I've done for over 25 years. Winning championships, making money, being a star, all the luxurious things...they don't count. What counts is being able to open up a path for the new generation to come in and continue to innovate and evolve. I'm just very happy to be a pioneer."

~ Rey Mysterio

Oscar Gutierrez aka Rey Mysterio is certainly among one of the greatest pro wrestlers of all time. His athleticism and skills in the ring are something to watch. Even non-pro wrestling fans would enjoy watching someone like him.

Where his height is concerned, Rey is a little man in a sport where big men thrive. Though Rey had made his weakness his strength. His smallness is his biggest power in the big men's business.

Now WWE had listed Rey Mysterio's "billed" height as 5-feet-6 inches throughout his long and illustrious career. Though Rey has only claimed to be 5-feet-4 inches tall. You might be wondering what is this "billed" height is, since we all know that height can't be easily built (unless you have some good footwear).

Well, billed height in pro wrestling simply means how big a wrestler is supposed to be -- irrespective of his real height. Some might argue that build height means height with shoes on but we don't think that is the case here. Take the following case as an example.

Now WWE used to add several inches to its wrestlers' height. It is less common now but Rey belongs to the older generation of wrestlers where people like Kurt Angle who was around 5-feet-10 inches tall in real life used to get listed as 6-feet-2 inches tall. Now Kurt used to wear some big boots that there is no way that he was wearing four inches heels there.

After carefully looking at Rey Mysterio and comparing his height to that of a bevy of big and small wrestlers, we think that Kurt's case is valid here as well. Rey is around four inches shorter than his billed height.

Rey simply doesn't look anywhere close to 5-feet-6 inches tall or even 5-feet-4 inches as it happens. He looks shorter than most of the WWE divas who on average are five and a half feet tall.

Though short, Rey isn't a small guy. He used to weigh 145 lb (65 kg) in his early days as a pro wrestler but has now upped his weight to 175 lb (almost 80 kg) -- almost all of it hard-earned muscles. Hard to believe such a short man would weigh this much.

Here is another fun fact about Rey Mysterio: His son Dominic is around 6-feet- tall -- funny how genetics works sometimes.

The real height of Rey Mysterio is

5-feet-2 inches

or 157.5 cm
